Getting Into the Spirit

I am a longtime fan of all things Halloween related, so I was super stoked to collaborate with the hosts of true-crime news site MurderMurder News for a spooktacular photo sesh in rural Quebec. They wanted to do something with some serious witch vibes - possibly with smoke and definitely with goats! I had a lot of ideas for a witch-themed shoot bubbling in the old mind-cauldron so I had to say yes!

I met the girls at the Fromagerie Ruban Bleu in Mercier, QC - the farm owners graciously allowed us to shoot there as long as we promised to buy some of their lovely cheeses and soaps. We spent the afternoon frolicking with baby goats, making flower crowns in a field and posing near an apple orchard. It was a sunny day and the girls were decked out in these gorgeous vintage style sundress - it was all looking very Midsommar! We took this great American Gothic tribute shot with a pitchfork against a shed before setting down to a spread of locally made donuts, cheeses and wine! (Some days I really do love my job. <3)

After that, we took off to check out the local town cemetery for some more gothic style shots. The adjoining church was decidedly busy due to an ongoing outdoor mass so we decided to try a little pet cemetery down the road. I love when serendipity takes hold and leads you in the right direction! This turned out to be a way better location - it was remote and off the main road with tons of ambiance and major creep-factor. With the golden hour setting upon us, gorgeous beams of late summer sun came streaming through the trees, giving us phenomenal light.
